Welcome to the inaugural Poutohuwhakahaere blog. This will be a place for me to make some commentary on the month and keep you posted on any events past or coming up. These past weeks have been wet… and a little bit more wet….. and wet and a bit more wet and muddy and while we watched on with nervous anticipation about the hill slipping across the road from us, my thoughts go out to the many whānau in Whakatū who suffered much worse damage than a car park full of mud.
This week at the Marae we have started to celebrate Mahuru Māori and have stepped up the use of te reo on the daily, have dusted off the kemu and have celebrated in our usual fashion with kai. He tōnā reka!
