A new race on the calendar and it’s right on our doorstep.

Tēnā koutou ngā karapu waka ama o te waka o Aoraki
Nau mai haere mai ki te whakataetae hou ko *AORERE SPLASH*
I would like to invite you to take part in the inaugural 52km Waka ama change race starting in the beautiful Kaiteretere, racing along the ancient Māori highway into the heart of Abel Tasman Park, then returning to Kaiteretere.
The race date has been set for Saturday March 18
th 2023 8:00am start.
There will be a steerers and escort boat drivers briefing on the Friday evening at 6pm in Kaiteretere (venue to be confirmed). This will be mandatory for all teams.
Categories
(1) OC6 Women – 10 paddlers
(2) OC6 Men – 9 paddlers
(3) OC6 Mixed – Maximum of 5 men 10 paddlers
We will be also offering a shorter race starting at the same time as the 52km race this will be 32km.
Entry is available for clubs in Te Waka o Aoraki / South Island only. Full details including a list of escort boat drivers will be provided closer to the race date, as well as a Pānui in November.

Accommodation in Kaiteretere is limited, there is still availability now, but it will not last long.
We will provide an area to unload your waka on the Friday. Waka hire will also be available.
